Child Care Provision for Key Workers. Important information

Dear Parents and Carers,

Re: Coronavirus update-school closure to most pupils

I am writing to inform you that, following the Government announcement on Wednesday, we have been instructed to close the school to the majority of children, from this Friday.

“After schools shut their gates on Friday afternoon, they will remain closed until further notice except for children of key workers and vulnerable children, as part of the country’s ongoing response to coronavirus.”

As advised by the Government, we will endeavour to remain open to provide care for those identified by the Government as children of ‘key workers’ or ‘Vulnerable’ children.

Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, and appreciate the frustration that this may be causing.

We are trying to make arrangements both for next week and in the longer term. If you think that your child is eligible to come into school next week, please follow the link and complete the attached form and return it by 12.30 tomorrow (Friday) so that we can make plans for Monday.

Pupils with an EHCP or who have a social worker would also be able to come to school. We know who these children are and will contact parents individually.

Next week, school will be open from 8.40 until 3.15 for pupils who are allowed to come to school. Breakfast club will be open as usual from 8am. (please use the sims online booking system)

All other children will need to stay at home, so we regretfully request that you do not send your child to school from Monday until further notice.

These plans may then be altered, depending on further information from the Government or the Local Authority. Provision will also depend on available staffing in schools. The Local Authority are working to support local school clusters that may provide safe childcare during the coming weeks.

Please be assured that all staff are committed to providing your children with learning tasks; this will be in the form of activities on the school website which the pupils can complete in the safety of their own homes. We also hope to be able to contact you via Marvellous Me, text message and phone to offer support during this challenging time.

For children who are eligible for Free School Meals, Mandy will be providing a packed lunch that can be collected from school between 11.45 and 12.30. We will contact those eligible with further information as soon as possible.

Once again, Can I thank you for your amazing support at what is an unprecedented time for everyone. All of the staff are sad that for some children the uncertainty of the coming weeks, not seeing their friends or enjoying trips, assemblies, sporting events etc that they were looking forward to is something we could never imagine.

Please contact school using the office@wodensfield.org email if there is anything we can help with.

Yours sincerely

S. Walker (Mrs)

Headteacher
