Higher and Lower Sounds

Year 4 have been exploring ways to change the pitch of a sound. We identified high and low sounds on a guitar, recorder and xylophone. Fast vibrations make a sound higher and slow vibrations make a sound lower. We created pan pipes and could hear the air vibrating down the straw to make a sound. The longer straws made lower sounds and the shorter straws made higher sounds.
