Playing Glockenspiels in Year 1 🎶🎵🎼
This week in our music lesson we have been learning how to play the glockenspiels. The children experienced playing ‘Jingle Bells’ and getting in to the Christmas spirit. They also discussed and acted out some music actions, such as clapping, twisting, Ninja moves and jumping.

Year 1 Common Exception Words
To help support children's reading and their recognition of the Common Exception Words (Red Words) we have created a video file that you can watch and read together. We will be using this video in class to further support recognition; the Common Exception Words can also be found in the back of your child's Reading Diary.

Adoption@Heart's family patchwork quilt
We are excited to share that Wodensfield Primary School took part in the Adoption@Heart Countdown Quilt Project ! The quilt has now been revealed online – you can view it here: https://www.adoptionatheart.org.uk/countdown/quilt.html The physical quilt will be displayed at the Wolverhampton Fringe Festival on 28th, 29th and 30th November at The Asylum Art Gallery. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children who contributed to see their patch in real life! More detail

Remembrance Day - 2 Minutes Silence
At 11am, Year 1 children took part in a 2 minutes silence to reflect, show respect and honour people who have been involved in war and conflict since WW1 and remember those we have lost. We also watched this short video: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/poppies The BBC Children's remembrance film Poppies is a beautiful and evocative animation that sees war as experienced by animals in a WWI battlefield.

Year 1 have been busy creating.
To finish off our topic in English about The Rainbow Fish, the children have been using their artistic skills to prepare pieces of art work for our corridor display. Together they have painted the giant octopus and created paper chain tentacles, they have painted a variety of fish, adding their own bit of sparkle and designed other fish out of paper plates. Lots of fun was had by all x

A Huge Thank You From School Council

Remembrance Day
Year 1 have been learning about the meaning of Remembrance Day. We have been exploring and discussing the different colours of the poppies and what each colour symbolises. We have worked together in our classes to create our own Remembrance Day wreaths.
