3HW's Whole Class Reading
3HW started a new text yesterday, 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King-Smith. We had great fun exploring our newly decorated corridor which was themed to match our new text. We used our observations to predict what the book could be about. We read Chapter 1 and met the main characters and discussed the vocabularywe found. We cannot wait to read more.

Year 3 - End of Term
Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed this week at school. The Panto was great fun and they had a wonderful time at the party! Playing games, dancing and having a tasty snack! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all from Year 3!

KS2 Choir - Sing4Xmas
Choir attended Sing4Xmas this week - a city event held by Wolverhampton Music Services at St John's Church in Wolverhampton. They joined with a number of schools to sing many festive songs and even performed their own piece in front of a large audience. Many of our children and staff got to perform in some of the songs with other children and teachers, and great fun was had by all. Y3 & Y4 Christmas Carol Concert
Year 3 and 4 hosted their fabulous Christmas Carol concert last week and it certainly got everyone in the festive spirit! They worked very hard learning their lines and songs - it was a wonderful event!

Year 3 - Forest
Year 3 had great fun this week in our forest! Some were reenacting the adventures of Harriet Tubman, some were playing Stone Age, making shelters, hunting animals and setting up camps. Others were testing their climbing skills on the different equipment, making dens and having a relax in the hammocks! Some children were even using camouflage to hide from their friends! It was wonderful to get outside and enjoy our fantastic forest area!

KS2 Choir
Well done to our KS2 choir who brought lots of Christmas cheer into New Cross Care Home by singing and performing Christmas songs to the residents. Well done - you are all fantastic!

Year 3 - DT
Year 3 have been having lots of fun this week in Design and Technology. They have investigated how pneumatic systems are used and have designed and made a Monster that moves using air! We hope you enjoy looking at our fabulous creations!

Parent-Child Online Safety Workshop for KS2
We recently hosted a Parent-Child Online Safety Workshop for our KS2 families. Parents and children worked together on interactive activities from our online safety challenge, exploring real-life scenarios about staying safe online. 3HW - Science
3HW had a super Science lesson investigating which surfaces created the most/least friction. We tested 6 different surfaces and recorded our results in a chart. We made predictions and also concluded what we had found out.

Year 3 - Bronze Age Britain
Year 3 have been studying Prehistory since September and are currently finding out about Bronze Age Britain and the Beaker People. They have enjoyed making their own beaker using clay.

Year 3 Swimming
Year 3 have had a super week this week enjoying the pop-up pool. The children have gained confidence and independence in the water. They cannot wait to have more lessons in Year 4.

Year 3 - Black Hole Mobile Planetarium
Year 3 had a super session in the Planetarium today. They looked closely at the Sun, Moon and the planets in the solar system. They studied the stars and asked relevant and thoughtful questions. They behaved superbly and had a great time!

3H/W - Black History Month
In Year 3 we are celebrating Black History Month which gives everyone the opportunity to share, celebrate and understand the impact of black heritage and culture. Today we looked closely at the life of Nelson Mandela and his impact on the world and the lives of black people. We wrote a class Acrostic Poem about what we found out about him.

3H/W - Black History Month
Year 3 have enjoyed celebrating the start of Black History Month, coming to school in red, yellow, green and black and attending a special assembly via a web link. Our studies of our wonderful Whole Class Reading book Sulwe continues and later in the month we will begin finding out about the life of Harriet Tubman. We are also looking forward to studying the art of Lois Mailou and creating our own art work in her style.

3H/W - Fossils
3HW have had a super afternoon studying fossils and how they are formed. We looked closely at some fossils and drew the animal we thought they once were. We even handled a fossil called a coprolite which is a fossilised dinosaur poo.
