School Council would like to take the time to say a huge thank you to all of the children who brought in a donation for the shoebox appeal in support of Operation Christmas Child. The gifts that you provided will go a long way to help support a child who does not have much.

Year 3 have been studying Prehistory since September and are currently finding out about Bronze Age Britain and the Beaker People. They have enjoyed making their own beaker using clay.

To mark Remembrance Day, Year 6 pupils created stunning oil pastel pictures of poppies. They explored blending techniques to achieve rich, vibrant colours and smooth transitions, bringing their artwork to life.  We are so proud of their creativity and effort! Year 1 have been learning about the meaning of Remembrance Day. We have been exploring and discussing the different colours of the poppies and what each colour symbolises. We have worked together in our classes to create our own Remembrance Day wreaths.

4I have been creating electrical circuits to make bulbs light up in Science.

Year 6 used TinkerCAD to design a building that would improve the lives of people in their community. They thought about how the building would look, what smart or environmentally friendly features it might have, and how it would be used. We entered our designs in the TechStars Digital Design Competition, where the children were judged on their creativity and their use of digital design tools. Have a look at their designs. A team of Year 6 children took part in the What on Earth! quiz today, run by What on Earth! magazine. Each heat included three rounds of multiple-choice questions for the team to work through. We were really proud of our team of four and will await the results!

Maya "chocolatl" refers to the ancient Maya’s spiced, bitter chocolate drink. It was consumed in ceremonies and was considered a sacred gift from the gods, used for energy, and even as currency. Unlike modern hot chocolate, the original beverage was unsweetened and often very spicy.  Today, Year 6 tasted some Maya hot chocolatl as they were learning about the history of chocolate. As you can see from the photos, some children enjoyed it, but most did not!

It was a pleasure to recognise the achievements of some of our writers in today's Wonderful Writers' assembly. Each child won a special gold pencil and a certificate for their efforts. Well done to all of our wonderful writers, including our winners.

It was wonderful to see the amazing creations at the end of our workshop yesterday. Thank you all for a most enjoyable afternoon.

Year 3 have had a super week this week enjoying the pop-up pool. The children have gained confidence and independence in the water. They cannot wait to have more lessons in Year 4.

We assembled the donations of cereal boxes for the Harvest Festival and created our very own Harvest Dominoes.

Today, our school came together to celebrate the Harvest Festival with joy and gratitude. Year 6 led the way by exploring the word HARVEST, spelling out meaningful words such as heart, starve, have and earth- reminding us all of the deeper messages behind the season. Year 6 have been linking their art work to their Ancient Maya history topic. They designed pendants based on Maya engravings and then created them from clay. Have a look at what they made. Can you guess what any of the symbols mean?

We had a really  busy Thursday afternoon in Year 1. In Science, the children have been learning about how we use our ears to hear sounds. They investigated how they could create loud or quiet sounds. They created their own musical instruments by using junk materials, pasta, rice, lentils and elastic bands.

Year 3 had a super session in the Planetarium today. They looked closely at the Sun, Moon and the planets in the solar system. They studied the stars and asked relevant and thoughtful questions. They behaved superbly and had a great time!
