3HW 's Fable Freeze Frames
3HW have begun their new writing unit on Aesop's Fables. Today we looked at some of the features that fables have and found out who Aesop was. Aesop was an ancient Greek storyteller born around 620 BC and was a slave. He collected stories of animals acting as people. STEM Racing
Two STEM racing teams recently travelled to Aston University to compete in the Regional Finals, where they showcased the model cars they had carefully engineered and designed. As part of the competition, pupils delivered a professional presentation, created a pit display and underwent rigorous engineering scrutiny. Waterproof or not? ☔️
In Science, Year 1 have been comparing materials based on their properties to see if they are waterproof or not? They performed a simple investigation to find out which material would be more suitable to use for a rain hat.

Rhythm and Pulse 🎵🎶🎤
In music, Year 1 enjoyed performing to the ‘Wake up rap’. The children performed actions and sang along. They also were using claves to tap to the rhythm and pulse in our song ‘In the groove’. A small group confidently performed this song as a band. 🎶🎵🎤

R.E. in Action
Year 6 experiencing what it would be like to be a child in India making paper bags to earn a living after our unit in RE understanding why different faiths have founded their own charitable organisations.

Supertato
This week in Nursery, we loved reading ‘Supertato!’ We enjoyed making medals for Supertato, hunting for hidden vegetables, building a hiding place for him, picking up peas with tweezers and collaring pictures of superheroes. Class 2H Investigate
In Science this week 2H investigated a variety of materials to discover which one would be the best for an umbrella. Our three key questions were - Is it strong ? Is it lightweight? Is it waterproof?

Year 3 had a wonderful time in the Planetarium learning all about light. We really enjoyed seeing how white light can reflect lots of different colours.

Year 5 enjoyed a very physical music lesson today. They moved to different beats and completed challenges as a whole class!

Nursery
This week in Nursery has been so much fun! We have explored the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and retold the story in groups using finger puppets and face masks. We joined in with repeated phrases and used key vocabulary such as ‘first’ and ‘last.’ As part of our topic, we learnt about the character’s feelings and how to manage our emotions. We particularly liked naming the farm animals, copying the sound they make and singing ‘Old MacDonald.’

Fun in the Forest
Year 3 are thoroughly enjoying their forest school sessions! Whatever the weather, the children are out there, climbing, swinging, building dens, reenacting scenes from the Stone Age, making sculptures and experiencing our wonderful forest area!

Year 5 Heath Park Visit
Year 5 spent a wonderful afternoon watching a production of Hairspray at Heath Park School. We enjoyed seeing some former Wodensfield pupils performing and didn't even mind walking in the rain!

Week 3 in Nursery
In Nursery, the children have been enjoying, ' The Three Billy Goats Gruff' by listening to the story, joining in with familiar phrases and retelling it through role play, drawings and mark making. The children have been counting and ordering the goats by size, exploring the number 1 and using key vocabulary while building bridges. The children have also taken part in creative activities such as junk modelling, puppet making and collaging the characters from the story.

Week 2 in Nursery
We had a lot of fun exploring patterns, Winter and numbers! We read the book, ‘My Mom and Dad Make Me Laugh’ and talked about the different patterns we saw, especially spots and stripes. The children enjoyed comparing their clothes with their friends’ and noticing similarities and differences. We also explored the season ‘Winter’ and discovered some of its signs.
