In Science this week 2H investigated a variety of materials to discover which one would be the best for an umbrella. Our three key questions were - Is it strong ? Is it lightweight? Is it waterproof?

Year 3 had a wonderful time in the Planetarium learning all about light. We really enjoyed seeing how white light can reflect lots of different colours.

Year 5 enjoyed a very physical music lesson today. They moved to different beats and completed challenges as a whole class!

This week in Nursery has been so much fun! We have explored the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and retold the story in groups using finger puppets and face masks. We joined in with repeated phrases and used key vocabulary such as ‘first’ and ‘last.’ As part of our topic, we learnt about the character’s feelings and how to manage our emotions. We particularly liked naming the farm animals, copying the sound they make and singing ‘Old MacDonald.’

Year 3 are thoroughly enjoying their forest school sessions! Whatever the weather, the children are out there, climbing, swinging, building dens, reenacting scenes from the Stone Age, making sculptures and experiencing our wonderful forest area!

Our Year 6’s have really enjoyed their electricity topic in science and problem solving with different electrical circuits.

5S enjoyed a chilly, but fun morning practising their bowling skills with their Staffordshire Cricket coach this morning.

Year 5 spent a wonderful afternoon watching a production of Hairspray at Heath Park School. We enjoyed seeing some former Wodensfield pupils performing and didn't even mind walking in the rain!

In Nursery, the children have been enjoying, ' The Three Billy Goats Gruff'  by listening to the story, joining in with familiar phrases and retelling it through role play, drawings and mark making. The children have been counting and ordering the goats by size, exploring the number 1 and using key vocabulary while building bridges. The children have also taken part in creative activities such as junk modelling, puppet making and collaging the characters from the story.

We had a lot of fun exploring patterns, Winter and numbers! We read the book, ‘My Mom and Dad Make Me Laugh’ and talked about the different patterns we saw, especially spots and stripes. The children enjoyed comparing their clothes with their friends’ and noticing similarities and differences. We also explored the season ‘Winter’ and discovered some of its signs. We have been exploring the mass of items from around our classroom. The children have been able to explain how they know if an object is heavier or lighter by whether it goes higher or lower on the balance scales. We have also been able to use the star vocabulary: heavy, heavier, light lighter.

During English today we narrated and acted out our own Helicopter Stories based on Jill Murphy’s story ‘On the way home’.

Yesterday afternoon, our Year 6’s really enjoyed listening to Tom Palmer talk, in a virtual workshop, about being a professional author and to have the opportunity to ask lots of questions. It was great to hear about how he became an author, about some of his books and the inspirations behind them. Thank you, Tom.

Reception have enjoyed visiting the forest for the first time in 2026. The sun was shining and the children explored all of the climbing equipment, built dens and made mud soup. It was lovely to see all of the children cooperating and enjoying the fresh air and nature :)

A team of ten Year 2 children showed off their athletic skills at the Wolverhampton Schools KS1 Multi-Skills Competition. They all performed superbly and supported each other so very well, finishing in third place. Well done to all of our wonderful performers!

Year 6 brought the energy and teamwork to their PE lessons as they learned the traditional Māori haka, embracing rhythm, movement and cultural expression. A great display of energy and enthusiasm.

3HW started a new text yesterday, 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King-Smith. We had great fun exploring our newly decorated corridor which was themed to match our new text. We used our observations to predict what the book could be about. We read Chapter 1 and met the main characters and discussed the vocabularywe found. We cannot wait to read more.

Today 2H were introduced to Reggae - a music genre originating from Jamaica - by listening to a selection of songs by the one and only Bob Marley. We identified the rhythm and feel of the music and moved our bodies in time.
