A small group of our super Year 6 pupils attended a writing workshop at Wolverhampton's Art Gallery today based around the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. The workshop, hosted by Wolverhampton Council's CLL team, taught the children about using sentences of varying length, different cohesive devices, purposeful vocabulary and circular endings to a story. Our talented STEM Racing Club members brought festive fun and creativity to this year’s Christmas Fair by running their own stalls! Visitors enjoyed exciting activities like ‘Bouncy Ball or Brussels Sprouts’ and Christmas bauble decorating, while browsing a selection of crochet, baked goods and balloons. Thanks to their hard work and enthusiasm, the club raised an amazing £101.81! All proceeds will go towards costumes and materials for the upcoming STEM Racing Regional Final.

Reception had a letter from Stick Lady Love to tell us that Stick Man is lost. We decided to search inside our forest to see if we could find him. We have not managed to find him yet, however we have been enjoying the story and we have made ‘Lost’ posters that describe him in the hope that he will be found soon!

Well done to our Junior Choir for their beautiful singing at St Thomas’ Church. It was a lovely way to begin our Christmas celebrations.

During Geography today we completed an orienteering activity by using our map skills to locate hidden letters within our outside area.

We recently hosted a  Parent-Child Online Safety Workshop for our KS2 families. Parents and children worked together on interactive activities from our online safety challenge, exploring real-life scenarios about staying safe online. To help support children's reading and their recognition of the Common Exception Words (Red Words) we have created a video file that you can watch and read together. We will be using this video in class to further support recognition; the Common Exception Words can also be found in the back of your child's Reading Diary.

In their English lessons, the Year 6 children have been writing persuasive speeches to persuade the Headteacher that Saturday school must not go ahead. They worked in teams to write a speech and presented it to their classmates. They delivered powerful and convincing speeches, which were wonderful to hear. Well done Year 6. Let’s hope our weekends remain untouched!!!

Year 6 took part in a Now Press Play experience all about the Maya civilisation. Through storytelling, they explored Maya culture and achievements, bringing History to life.

As part of a local authority initiative ending on Children in Need day, a group of our Year 6 pupils have worked incredibly hard to produce a wonderful collaborative piece of writing based on a proverb from around the world. The children chose the proverb "A single bracelet does not jingle" and have crafted an excellent written piece around this, which also includes an array of higher-level sentence structures and punctuation. We are extremely proud of the children's efforts.

The Year 6’s have loved learning about the amazing digestive system and enjoyed (well, most of them!) looking at how food travels through the digestive tract. We hope you enjoy the photos!

We are excited to share that Wodensfield Primary School took part in the  Adoption@Heart Countdown Quilt Project ! The quilt has now been revealed online – you can view it here: https://www.adoptionatheart.org.uk/countdown/quilt.html The physical quilt will be displayed at the  Wolverhampton Fringe Festival  on  28th, 29th and 30th November  at The Asylum Art Gallery. Year 6 have been learning keyboard skills this half term. Identifying the notes and playing part of the song ‘Friday’ by Riton x Nightcrawlers, which you may recognise from a certain car advert.

City Dodgeball Champions

Year 5 have been working hard on their guitar skills this term. Rockstars in the making!

3HW had a super Science lesson investigating which surfaces created the most/least friction. We tested 6 different surfaces and recorded our results in a chart. We made predictions and also concluded what we had found out.

We really enjoyed our first ‘Read with parents’ session. It was a lovely opportunity for parents to share a book with their child and to join us in our classroom. If you could not make it this time then please join us in the future. This will be every Tuesday at 2:55pm :)

Reception F have enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day. We have learned why it is important to remember, how we remember and we also enjoyed making poppies.
