Throughout October the pupils at Wodensfield Primary have been focusing on the contributions made by members of the BAME community in science, the arts, engineering, sport and human rights. Click on the assembly link above to find out more.

In this weeks assembly the story of Henry Box Brown was shared with the children, this led to some great discussions about the lives of people subjected to slavery. This has linked well to our October value,Respect.

In class, children have listened to stories, looked at autobiographies and researched the lives of historical figures. We will share some of their work next week in the news and updates file.

The Wodensfield ethos is to "treat others as you would like to be treated yourself". This is at the heart of our curriculum. We appreciate that Black History month is a valuable way to bring this into greater focus, but ensuring all members of our community are valued through the curriculum and culture of the school throughout the year is key. We are currently working on a curriculum provision map so that we can share this with all parents and carers.
