The Digestive System

Year 6 have been studying 'Animals, including humans' in Science and this week we explored the digestive system by creating one of our own! We used scissors to break up the food like teeth before it went down the oesophagus pipe to the bag, which represented the stomach. After we'd churned the food and added 'stomach acid' to break down the food further, we used a pair of tights to represent the intestines - absorbing the water and nutrients while leaving the waste behind. Finally the waste made it's way to the rectum and out through the anus.
